MacCracken Architects has been a multi-service architecture firm since its inception in 1985. We have always been interested in the process of translating program and context into specific principles that lend rationale to our design work. We give meticulous attention to the evidence (client wishes/requirements, environment/site, culture and context) of a situation, in an effort to blend pragmatic and poetic elements in our work. We emphasize the expression of natural material, assemblage of parts, light, shadow, scale and proportion to communicate a coherent language of architecture unique to client, place and idea. Our practice of architecture is a seamless unity of design, careful execution of construction detail drawings and regular involvement during construction.
