Visions West Galleries Sherri Belassen
Sherri Belassen experienced the pattern and color of a landscape from her father's two-seater plane while growing up. She paints a stylized subject matter, in the palette of her Arizona home against a landscape influenced by her early view of the world from above in her father's plane. She says, "Its not so much about what I paint, but the space in which the subject exists." As a result, her subject is connected to a space larger than itself. Like the artists she most admires, Frankenthaler, Diebenkorn, and Avery, she composes her paintings by manipulating shapes and colors.
