Mara Sfara

Mara Sfara is a contemporary representational sculptor and painter. Her vividly colored paintings often depict idyllic, serene landscapes featuring natural elements such as trees, lakes, cliffs and the sea. A talented portraitist adept at capturing scenes from her travels—often seascapes. One can readily identify with Mara’s original and whimsical bronze sculptures, since her subjects each convey a different emotion, mood or attitude. This is the essence of Mara Sfara’s work: to draw viewers in, to evoke emotion and tell a story - one that is positive and uplifting. “I am a very positive person, and I enjoy beautiful colors, objects and places,” explains Mara.  This attitude reflects itself in her art.

Mara’s artwork is deeply influenced by her mentor, the seminal portrait artist Burton Silverman, whom she calls a “psychological artist”. Mara reaches the core of the emotion she is looking to convey, so that her pieces possess deep meaning. Likening her artistic process to that of a writer, she says: “In literature, using fewer words to express ideas shows a greater command of language. The same is true with art. The true artist uses subliminal seduction within the painting to convey a story.” Therefore, all of Mara’s pieces have a true focus and all the elements work together to create a magical experience.
