Lynn Welker describesherself as a painter of imaginative excursions. Her mixed media, narrative landscapesappear in a refreshing style, unique to this artist. Painting in a spontaneousmanner, she combines the familiar with the unexpected encouraging fresh views andnew challenges.
Growing up in Ohio,Welker recalls the freedom to explore nature in nearby woods and farmlands.This connection to the natural world has remained the primary inspiration forher artistic path. “I am interested in all the elements of the Americanlandscape both past and present. It is my intention to shift importance, ifonly briefly, away from a world of technology to one that reconnects peoplewith the land.” Often, the resulting works become her platform for explorationand discovery, evoking a quiet sensitivity to objects, forms, and figures.
After receiving her BFA and BS in Education degrees from theUniversity of Cincinnati,Welker left the wooded landscape of the mid west behind. Settling in SouthernCalifornia brought new and different visual inspiration. Richearthy colors found in the west seem to suit her needs and continue to dominateher work. Continuing as a visual artist, Welker earned an MA while serving 20years with the Newport-Mesa USD in art education.
As a life-long artist, Welker’s innovative style allows herthe freedom to utilize her extensive education and experience in making art.Her intuitive awareness of the elements of art during the act of paintingcreates order, communicates an idea, and consequently evokes a response.Collectors across the country as well as Europe and Asiatreasure the connection they have to the voice of this artist.
