From early childhood, growing up on a Nebraska farm, I remember three very strong emotions: wonder and amazement at the beauty all around me, a desire to worship the ONE who made it, and a longing to share what I saw and felt.
Although I'm very interested in shape, color, texture, movement, etc., the most important element to me is that the painting comes alive and invites you in. When people connect emotionally to the artwork, it is very rewarding.
One young woman with tears in her eyes, shared that a painting of a red sumac-covered hill, on a foggy day reminded her of drives in the country with her grandmother when she was a child. I love being part of that!
