Theresa
Paden's unique painting style captures the essence of her subjects.
“My
paintings are inspired by my love of wildlife, horses, Native Americans,
and
the
captivating images of the West. I use vibrant color, along with bold
brushwork,
to express
my passion on canvas. My hope is that viewers will be energized by
the colors
and textures, and emotionally connected to the subjects I paint.”
Paden's
artistic vision has been sharpened by a lifetime of observing nature
firsthand,
from childhood backpacking adventures to current inspiration found
daily.
Living in a beautiful southern California valley, among ranches and
wildlife,
provides her
with a wealth of natural imagery and subject matter. "I have been
influenced
by the works of Toulouse Latrec, Henri Matisse, Paul Gaughin,
Wayne
Thiebaud, and 19th century Japanese painters."
After
graduating from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Theresa
worked as a
graphic designer in Los Angeles for several years. She became the
first female
art director at the National Football League, designing Super Bowl
logos,
tickets, and posters. She eventually moved to the country with her
husband to
raise their children and pursue her love of fine art. When not
painting,
she enjoys riding horseback with her family into the hills above their
home where
the natural world of the West can still be experienced first hand.
